I found a great little hosted “to-do list” service today. It’s called Ta-Da List and is totally free, by 37Signals. Very clean and simple, it creates lists that are private or you can share them with someone.
There is an upgrade hosted service that will allow you to upload files/photos and collaborate with other [...]

Cool video
This is a timelapse video of a guy driving a car from LA to NYC. It’s about 2 1/2 minutes long but worth the watch if you have a spare moment.
Watch it here.

Open Source saves the day
I love these stories. PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) is a heavy Microsoft house; they use Windows on the server and client side, and as usual have tons of problems.
When management told IT not to spend money to fix anything (the previous IT head spent it all), they relied on open source to save the day. [...]

VeriSign pwns .com
I hate VeriSign…really I do. They’re like the Microsoft of the domain names. It seems they will have control of the “.com” domain until 2012. What a bunch of whining ass’.
Here is the full story.

Students told to stop blogging…at home
A Catholic high-school principle in New Jersey has told his students to take down their blogs at MySpace and other social sites, or face suspension. Many people are furious with this, including what seems to be most of the student body. Having attended a Catholic high-school, I totally agree with this quote:

To use, first login to your WP.com (uberwerks.wordpress.com) account, click on “profile” in your admin interface and make a note of your API key. [...]

NetDrive
Novell has made free (as far as I can tell) a program that will place your FTP remote drive (like, UberWerks’ site) as a drive letter in your Windows explorer.
It’s NOT like trying to “FTP” into a site within explorer…rather, this actually maps the remote drive to your machine. Very cool. Get it [...]

Steve Jobs quote
I read this from Time Magazine and thought it was an inspired reason to like Apple:
What’s really been great for us is the iPod has been a chance to apply Apple’s incredibly innovative engineering in an area where we don’t have a 5%-operating-system-market-share glass ceiling,” Jobs says. “And look at what’s happened. That same innovation, [...]

Hotmail redux
It seems everyone is jumping on the “webmail remodel” (Google…what’s up?) bandwagon and Hotmail is no exception. So far, I’ve been impressed with Yahoo’s transformation and I expect that Hotmail will make a successful move over as well, although I check my Hotmail account once every 3 months…and it’s all junk…everytime.
