Had to write and share some good tidings that Pickens experienced today. First, KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick personally wrote Pickens tonight about a CD he has coming out soon. Yeah, your thinking “no way?!” Well, I’m not joking…totally bad ass. I’ve seen the email first hand.
Second, and just as amazing, Pickens and his old crew are getting back together to re-record Scene Of The Crime (SOTC), and record some new music as well.
But all of this is for not, without a good ass-kicking band name. The guys need your help. First, download their home-grown recording of SOTC. This is a raw sample of what’s to come…as this will be the first track to be re-recorded with deeper bass, meaner guitar tones, and other “shitting in your pants”, in your face rock. While you have SOTC screaming in your ear, think of some good band names.
Post your responses here and if the name you choose is selected, you’ll be one of the first to receive the new recorded songs before they are released to the world.
Thanks everyone…

Famous Literary Figures of the Twelfth and Thirteenth Centuries
(I suggested this over at TxD and people seemed to like it.)

How about Flameburst or Burning {fill something here}?

Wow… lots of quick responses to this one. BTW, I was the one playing bass on that track. It’s kind of buried in the mix, but that’s one thing we plan on fixing on the “proper” recording that we plan to do.
I’m still undecided on the name, and haven’t had a chance to consult with the singer or guitarist, but keep ‘em comin’!

Here’s my ideas, in the order they occurred while listening to the demo track.
Elemental Pornstars (appears to be completely unused by anyone — no Google hits)
The Riff Gypsies (I think a band named Gypsies is already out there somewhere)
Hammer ‘n Tongs (has a nice double meaning that fits the band’s sound, but already in use by a UK video production company)
Flabergast (doesn’t seem to be in use by a band)
Flabergasm (the word is out there, but not associated with a band; has the drawback of making the band sound like a group of fat fetishists)

[...] Over in the TextDrive forums today, I discovered a contest being held at Interknox to name a band. If you pick the winning name, you get a pre-release copy of the band’s album. [...]

The comment with my suggestions never did show up for some reason, but you can read them by following the pingback from 8 Ways to Sunday, above.
Is the band close to a decision yet? I’m all tingly with suspense and stuff over here.
