If you manage your own DNS (even if you don’t), you should definately create an SPF (sender policy framework) record for your domain. It helps in the prevention of SPAM and has been widely adopted by AOL, Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, etc. Microsoft has an easy online wizard to help you create your own SPF record.

Your webhost may have a pre-canned SPF record for you already. As well, email only hosts like Fastmail, are extremely versed in this area and probably have a very robust SPF record already created for you to copy/paste.

I have to remember to use this one for some people at work.  Get a lot of email forwards from your friends and/or family?  You know…those emails with 100 other people in the to: list?  Yeeeeah.  Well, send the sender here next time.

With the release of Thunderbird 1.5.0.2, I have found an article that provides some tips and tools on how to make the email client more usable, and efficient.  Link.

Looks like I switched to Gmail at the right time.  Yahoo is discontinuing their “plus” services, which means if you subscribed to their plus email service, you are now going to loose 1gb of data storage.  I suspect that Yahoo will be changing their service at some point to match Google’s but this is still a blow.  Read more here.

On Tuesday I’ll be purchasing Black, a new game for the Xbox and PS2 that lets you blow up just about everything you can see.  Well, EA Games has released a hidden code that will allow you to unlock a “BFG” for those that pre-order.  Well…we have to love the google engine for bringing the code to everyone:  5SQQ-STHA-ZFFV-7XEV.  Enjoy (I know I will).

I spent a few hours this weekend moving my email from Yahoo’s system over to Gmail.  Using this piece of software from Mark Lyon, I finally got everything moved.  As well, if you’re like me, you have a couple of websites and several email addresses.  Setting up Gmail for this is rather simple but I found this tutorial in case someone needed help.
