Akismet

This has got to be the end-all approach to comment spam for WordPress. I installed this little, simple plug-in about a week ago and it has caught more spam than any other plug-ins I used to run. On top of that, it uses hardly any resources at all. Awesome.

For those of us lucky enough to have a WordPress.com account, I HIGHLY recommend that you get Akismet. It will nearly eliminate all trackback and comment spam on your site.

I have just installed a plug-in called “SimpleTags“. This small plug-in allows me to take any particular text in my post and create an automatic Technorati tag (see bottom of post).
